Chad Rintoul was a rugged midfielder/forward and a cult figure at the Eagles, impressing with his take-no-prisoners attack on the ball.

Adelaide career[]

Hailing from Karratha, Chad Rintoul was a mature-age recruit for Adelaide after a solid couple of seasons at East Fremantle. Rintoul had a successful start to his AFL career, playing 11 games and featuring in the Crows’ 1997 premiership side. In 1998, however, he managed just 12 games and although he played in the preliminary final, he was dropped the following week so that the Crows could bring in another ruckman and missed out on a second premiership medal. At the end of the season he was traded cheaply to West Coast.

West Coast career[]

Rintoul played every game in his debut season, and had a day out against his former Crows teammates, picking up a career-high 36 possessions. He will probably be best remembered that season for running down Nathan Brown in a close qualifying final victory over the Bulldogs.

His 2000 was a little quieter, Rintoul suffering from the departure of Mick Malthouse. He didn’t get along too well with Ken Judge and although he still played 15 games, he spent a few weeks at East Freo for the first time since being drafted.

Collingwood career[]

Touls departed at the end of the year and was picked up by Collingwood in the pre-season draft, reuniting him with Malthouse. He played 14 games in the black and white but was forced to retire in 2002 after a series of concussions left him battling crippling migraines.
