A wingman slash half forward, Geary was the last player added to West Coast’s playing list for the 1989 season after playing for
South Fremantle in 1988.
Richmond career Edit
Originally from the eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Richard Geary played under-19s footy for
Fitzroy before transferring to Richmond where he played 18 senior games across 1985 and 1986.
West Coast career Edit
After crossing to
South Fremantle Geary was picked up in the pre-season draft and played two games for the Eagles, both losses, and amassed a total of just three possessions. Geary did, however, have a good year with the Bulldogs, leading the club’s goalscoring for the 1989 season.
Post-VFL career Edit
Geary returned to Melbourne and joined Victorian Football Association club Werribee in 1990.
He played in Werribee's premiership side in 1993.
