From the papers[]

The Age[]

"The Crows' Anthony Modra kicked the first goal of the game, but that was the last Adelaide saw of the football for some time. In the space of about five minutes, West Coast dominating play and the socreboard, kicked five goals to burst clear of a lethargic Crows combination.

The Eagles made light work of the difficult conditions. The ground was heavy, because of driving rain that fell constantly throughout the first half. But despite the slippery conditions, West Coast handled the ball with poise. Its passing to position was spot-on.

The Eagles were best served during the first quarter, indeed the first half, by Peter Wilson on a half-forward line, who finished with four goals in his first game back from injury, and the mercurial Chris Lewis, who kicked two goals in the first quarter."[1]

Canberra Times[]

"West Coast sealed victory in the Friday night contest with a fiery opening term that realised eight goals in 16 minutes.

Led by dashing half-forward Peter Wilson and creative midfield duo Chris Lewis and Peter Matera, the Eagles consistently won the centre breaks.

Only Adelaide captain Chris McDermott, with 23 possessions in the first half, initiated a challenge to tbe Eagles' supremacy.

The victory extended West Coast's winning streak to three matches and adds to the mid-season improvement after a slow start to the season."[2]
