From the papers[]

The Age[]

"Slingshot footy is all the rage and the Hawks were masters of it early and often at Etihad Stadium.

West Coast kept the ball locked in their forward half for most of the first term only to be stung by the Hawks as they fired the slingshot out of defence after creating the turnover.

Hawthorn scored its first four goals from just five forward 50 entries as its forwards broke into acres of space. The Eagles' weight of numbers saw them edge in front at the first break, but the Hawks managed to hurt them on the counter all night."
