From the papers[]

The Age[]

"Yesterday's home-town derby, played in 25-degree heat in front of a pro-Docker crowd of almost 40,000, lacked the intensity of the first local derby in round seven, when West Coast won by 85 points.

While some Dockers demonstrated how much they had matured in their first AFL season, they still suffered from misplaced passing and turnovers. Several of West Coast's finals specialists returned to top form - Brett Heady kicked five good goals, Dean Kemp tackled fiercely, Chris Mainwaring was brilliant on the wing, and Peter Matera dominated.

Other Eagles also indicated they were nearing finals form, including Brayden Lyle, Fraser Gehrig and Tony Evans.

Craig Turley was employed off the interchange, but added bite to the forward line and wing."[1]
