The West Coast Eagles were formed in 1986 and began competing in the then-Victorian Football League (now the Australian Football League) in 1987. Since its inception the club has won four premierships, in 1992, 1994, 2006 and 2018, and competed in the finals in 23 of its 32 seasons.

History[]

Ownership and board[]

Uniform and symbols[]

The club's colours are royal blue and gold. When the club was formed in 1986, the wedge tailed eagle was chosen as the mascot to reflect the fact that the new side would have to fly a significant amount to compete in the Melbourne-based competition. The eagle's head faced east (right) to symbolise attacking the east.

Between 2000 and 2017, navy blue was used instead of royal blue as one of the club's primary colours. The royal blue was gradually brought back from 2002, initially on away guernseys before the navy blue was dropped altogether when the logo and jumper were redesigned ahead of the 2018 season.
